Strawberry Cooking & Storage Tips

How to Clean and Hull Strawberries

  • Angle a small sharp knife and cut, in a circular motion, around the hull which is the green leafy top of the strawberry and into the pale flesh directly underneath.

  • It is generally removed before cooking or serving.

  • Wash strawberries thoroughly under cold running water before using.

  • Pat dry.

How to Freeze Strawberries

  • Before freezing, wash and hull (cut off the  tops/stem) of the strawberries

  • Pat strawberries dry with dry paper towels

  • Place berries on a dry cookie sheet lined with parchment or wax paper and freeze until solid.  (1 to 2 Hours)  This way the strawberries will not stick together.

  • Put individual frozen strawberries in an airtight container or plastic bag.  Enjoy them a little at a time or all at once.
